Book Review: Sun Stand Still by Stephen Furtick

Just finished reading:

Sun Stand Still
What Happens When You Dare to Ask God For the Impossible
by Stephen Furtick

We heard Stephen speak at our church, Harvest Bible Chapel in Elgin a few weeks ago and were so fired up we just had to get his book. Wow!  What an infusion of faith!

What sold me was the first line on the back cover:

“If you’re not DARING TO BELIEVE GOD for the impossible, you may be SLEEPING THROUGH some of the BEST PARTS of your Christian life.”

He got my attention.

“This book is not a Snuggie. The words on these pages will not go down like Ambien. I’m not writing to calm or coddle you. With God’s help, I intend to incite a riot in your mind. Trip your breakers and turn out the lights in your favorite hiding places of insecurity and fear. Then flip the switch back on so that God’s truth can illuminate the divine destiny that may have been lying dormant inside you for years.”

— Stephen Futick, from Sun Stand Still

This young, bold preacher does not mince words. He states it plain and simple then tosses it down in front of you and says, what are you going to do about it?

I dare you to read this book all the way to the end and stay the same. If you can, your god is not the God of the Holy Bible!

The time has come for the church to ask God for the impossible–do you have faith the size of a mustard seed?

I highly recommend this book.  Order a copy today and get out your highlighter!  You can get it on CBD or B&N.

  1. Picked up the book this summer, Cheryl. Excited to read it too. Hoping to next month. I periodically listen to Furtick’s podcast as well (Elevation Church). His preaching does provide an infusion of faith.
